Ellen Lee Osterfield surprised her parents with a drawing she brought home from Primary School. Up until then they had no inkling of her artistic talents.
With much encouragement from her family Ellen went from strength to strength winning awards for her oil paintings both locally and in the Victorian country areas from the mid '70's.
Simultaneously she blossomed as a singer/songwriter in the Country Music field. After landing a recording contract in the early '80's she set off in a different direction for a number of years. Once again awards came along, this time for her music, followed by radio and television appearances Australia Wide. Although kept busy by her musical career, Ellen Lee never lost sight of her love for painting, relaxing at every opportunity by a peaceful river or scenic landscape with a paintbrush in her hand.Working in oils and gouache she painted her way around Australia in the late '80's with her husband, whilst they both worked as driver and hostess for a bus tour organization. It was during this time Ellen's work was sold for numerous private collections worldwide.
Now with a wealth of hands on experience behind her, Ellen Lee has emerged with a fresh vision and new mediums. Specialising in Pastel and pencil her work reflects her love of the Australian landscape, Bird life and country life as it was in days gone by.
Recent awards for her pastel works include Kilmore SES Art Show and Strathfieldsaye Fire Brigade Art Show. In 2003 Ellen Lee was elected President of the Studios and Galleries of the Bendigo Region.
