She was born in the sixties, from farming stock, her roots in the district of “Tweeling”, North Eastern Free state, an area called “Riemland”, in South Africa. She grew up on a farm and from a young age mingled with African people from all walks of life, interacting with young kids ages alike hers, playing with toy cars made from wires and pushed in the dirt road, playing in the river and dams, and throwing “clay-Stick (klei-lat)” in the river, or playing “hide and seek” in the poplar forest on the farm, or just watching some of the women and men participating in their daily farm workers routine, this is where she got some of her inspiration for her paintings.

She went to Oranje Meisies Girls School where she studied art as her main subject for 3 years, doing sculpting, graphic art, pencil drawings, etchings, lino prints, oil and water colour paintings, she also studied Art History. She received a distinction for ART in her Matric year.
She married a farmer from the Eastern Cape, where she took care of and raised her two children and started pottery with a kiln in a studio. She did various studies in watercolour of the wildflowers On their farm. They later divorced in early 1990.

Recently, September 2007 tended to her passion again, ART, and went for fine art classes with a fine art master in Stellenbosch, where she lived.
She currently lives and paints full time in her studio in Cape Town.
Her work can be seen at the various Galleries in Cape Town, Mouille Point, Woodstock, Houtbay, Arniston, Franschoek, in Graaff Reinet in the Karoo, in Philadelphia in the Western Cape, at ART and Wine in Clarens, soon also at The Stellenbosch Art Gallery and Walkerbay Gallery in Hermanus.

Her style is mostly “expressionism” with her focus on portraits, figures, landscapes.

“Color is energy and I endeavour to capture the emotion and the poetry in my heart and soul”.

I get inspired by people in my walk through life.
She has participated in various exhibitions has exported commissioned works to Netherlands, Australia and Ireland.
She has sold work to buyers from Europe, The Czech Republic, Zurich and South Africa.
