Kerryn Madsen-Pietsch, born 1956, Ararat, Victoria, Australia, grew up on a self-sufficient mixed-farm near Hall's Gap, in the Grampians of Western Victoria. Between formal art and education qualifications Madsen-Pietsch worked and travelled interstate gaining life experiences. She settled in Innisfail, Far North Queensland 1985 to teach and married that same year to Clifford Madsen, an Indigenous artist and member of the rainforest people of the Kuku-Yalangi language group. They have three children and two grandchildren.
Parallel to a long art teaching career, raising the family, and now current owner/operater of an art retail business, is Madsen-Pietsch's continual commitment to developing her professional art practice. She has achieved numerous drawing, painting, printmaking, fibre and sculpture awards, plus regional exhibitions and conducting creative art workshops.
