Heather Auer was born in Stirling, Scotland and she immigrated to South Africa in 1959.
She attended the Ruth Prowse School of Art as well as being a student of Ryno Swart and Sheri
Hornsy before opening her own art studio in Cape Town where she taught and worked for 8 years.
She was commissioned by The Tulbagh Hotel and the Protea Palm Gardens Hotel to produce
paintings for all their bedrooms. Her paintings were also chosen by Van Schaik publishers for
4 book covers in 1995.
She moved to Simon's Town in 1996 to open her own Art Gallery.
She has exhibited widely in South Africa and recently in London, UK. Her sculptures and
paintings are in private collections worldwide.
Her figurative work is her passion, endeavoring to capture on canvas or in bronze, the spirit
of her subject, mainly women of Africa.
Heather has been working as a professional artist and sculptor since 1989.
